P90X ReviewEver fell asleep at night and wake up to an infomercial? If you have there is a very good chance that you have seen either the infomercial or commercial with Tony Horton going over P90X. There is a good chance that if you are reading the P90X review, you have a good idea of what it is.

I will go into little more in detail in this P90X Review of what it is and my opinion if it works.

Before we begin this P90X review, this is a fair, honest and unbiased P90X Review as I am not part of Beach Body or sell P90X. So, I will not be writing a positive P90X review in the hopes that you will click on my link and buy the product from me.

P90X Review: What Is It?

As you probably already know, P90X is an exercise program designed by Tony Horton. It is a 90-day program that claims it can help you lose weight, get toned, and get you in the best shape of your life.

It does this on what it calls muscle confusion. This is doing introducing different exercises during the program, so your body never adopts to the exercises, and you avoid the plateau effect.

By not doing the same exercises, your body has to adjust to new exercises. When it does adjust you change or bring in new exercises.

Truthfully, there is a lot of debate on muscle confusion. Just google and you will find forum posts, blogs, and websites that go across the spectrum of some saying it works and others saying it doesn’t and all points in between.

However, most do agree that by doing the same exercises with little variation is not as effective at getting the results you want. Not to mention it will get very boring and after time you will want to quit.

How does P90X vary your work out?

First, it is 12 DVDs that contain different workouts. By following the schedule, you do one DVD a day. Six days are exercise days, and the seventh day can be either rest or stretching day. Some of the DVDs are resistance based, while others are cardio based, some are stretching, and some are a mix.

It has three phases that last for three weeks and one-week rest week in between the phases. Each phase will bring in new exercises or DVDs that you did not do in the previous phase. The rest week is a week of little or no resistance training. The last phase is actually four weeks, and the exercises change every week.

There are three programs you can do. The lean program focuses more on being toned and more cardio. The standard program is more resistance training focusing more on size than the lean program. The hardest is two-a-day. By the end of the 90 days, you are actually doing two workouts a day, basically the standard schedule in the morning with cardio in the evening.

The P90X Review: The Diet

The program also comes with the diet book. This is based on three phases just like the program. The first phase is high protein and low-carbohydrate diet. As you progress through the phases, the protein intake decreases while the carbohydrate intake increases.

The Conclusion:

While I am not sold on muscle confusion that is presented in P90X, there is no danger in doing a variety of exercises. It also makes your workout more enjoyable and less repetitive and boring.

P90X is a solid exercise program that will challenge you and get you in shape. Some of the workouts are hard to do, even modifying some of the exercises.

You will be sore almost every day of the 90-day program. If you bring it and push play everyday, as they say in the infomercial, you will be in better shape and look a lot better than when you first started P90X.
