Bad Marketing On The Internet From My Own Experience

When I first came into internet marketing almost four years ago, I was introduced to many Bad Marketing strategies and I tried many of them. As you probably already guessed, these Bad Marketing strategies do not work. Luckily, most of the Bad Marketing strategies are free, but I did lose something more valuable than money, time.

4 Bad Marketing Strategies On The Internet

1. Traffic Exchanges: These are websites that I can put a link to my website on. As I view other member’s websites for normally 30 seconds, I get credits. I can turn around and use these credits to have the website show members my website.

My experience: These were very popular and there still are many of them online. I used a few of them. I would spend hours everyday to get enough credits and then use these credits to get visitors to my website.

I would get visitors, but for most of the websites these did not turn into leads or sales. The few leads I did get came from one traffic exchange Traffic Swarm.

2. Safelists: These are websites that I can put my email address. This allows me to receive emails from other members on the safelist. I can then email these members through the website my offer.

My experience: I used safelist no results, and I just checked an email that I had on a safelist. I had over 200,000 emails that I have not read, neither do I have even the inclination to read them.

This is what most do with safelists. They use a free email that they made just for safelists. They never check this account. So the emails you send out never get seen, much less read.

3. List Builders: This is a combination of safelists and traffic exchanges. I would only recommend these if you are willing to pay for the membership. This is usually $197 for one year. This allows you to send an email more, and you escape the tedious time wasting activity of surfing for credits.

My experience: I did have good success with two list builders (ViralURL and Viral Ad Store), but I paid for the yearly membership. I did get leads and made sales for MLSP. The ones I tried for free, I never got any results.

4. Online Classifieds: This is self-explanatory and most are free to post an ad in.

My experience: When I first came into internet marketing, my idea was I would get a tool that would blast my ad out to many different classifieds. This is exactly what I did. After a month or so of using this tool, I learned this does not work. The only two classified sites that I have gotten good results from are Craigslist and Backpage.

The main reason I consider these bad marketing strategies is because they waste a lot of time.

Why These Bad Marketing Strategies Do Not Work

These bad marketing strategies are free to use. There are some free marketing strategies that do work, but they all take time. The 4 bad marketing strategies listed above are being used by other marketers. They are visiting my website not because they are interested or care about what I am selling. They couldn’t care less about my business. They just want to use the credits that earn to get more eyes on their stuff.

There is also a question about marketers who use these bad marketing strategies. They are free, but they are tedious and painful in the time they waste. Who would voluntarily submit themselves to this pain? I can think of only types of people using these marketing strategies. They are new to marketing and following advice from someone, have no money for advertisement, or too cheap to buy advertisements or training on more effective marketing strategies. You may be able to make a sale to someone new, but the last two there is a 0% chance you will make a sale to them. So it is really a waste of time trying to market to them.

I believe that you are better served in using your time creating things, like blogs, articles, and videos. These things can get you a lead or sale today and many years down the road. None of the bad marketing strategies above listed above can do this.
